The purpose is reporting to the Director your primary responsibility is to sell, manage and carry out  the day to day operations of  the design, printing, and finishing services

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Design

  • Consult with customers to confirm their design requirements
  • Quote for design work
  • Design proofs using Adobe design suite of products
  • Present proofs to the customer for sign off before production commences.
  • Create job cards that reflect the customers expectations including a quote for the work and  an agreed timeline for delivery

Print Operations and Finishing

  •  Create and/or read and understand job cards. Use job card information to ensure production is produced according to specification
  • Perform quality checks according to established procedures to ensure high quality of production
  • Monitor printer efficiencies & speed to ensure production levels meet or exceed standards & make appropriate adjustments
  • Assist in workflow and process improvement planning
  • Must have the ability to maintain organisation with multiple projects, prioritise workflow, adhere to timelines, and meet deadlines
  • Observe machines in operation and make adjustments as needed
  • Identify workable production solutions when troubleshooting
  • Ensure deadlines are maintained and company objectives are met
  • Maintain printer and inventory supplies as needed
  • Finish printed material to a high level
  • Finishing includes guillotining, folding, laminating, stapling and booklet making.
  • Undertake finishing work in accordance with health and safety best practice.
  • Pack the jobs as per customer’s requirements
  • Must be prompt, courteous, professional and take pride in work
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the overall safety and cleanliness of equipment and area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Customer Service

  • Frontline Customer Contact and daily communication – via emails and phone calls – for all the range of products – design, print, uniforms, signage, promotional products
  • Plan prioritise and action job cards to meet the agreed customers’ expectations
  • Track, resolve or escalate customer complaints to a successful resolution
  • Advice customers of any potential delay in their timeline in a timely manner
  • Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures
  • Define and communicate customer service standards
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve quality of service, productivity, and profitability. Liaise with company management to support and implement growth strategies
  • Track actual job costs against quotes
  • Bill customers in a timely manner
  • Complete end of day till balance in an accurate, ordered, and scheduled manner 

Risk Management

  • Follow Health & Safety guidelines at all times
  • Report any issues with equipment to management as soon as possible

Competencies

  • A strong attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Have good communication skills, and a positive, can-do outlook
  • Minimum of mid-level knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • General printing and finishing knowledge
  • Able to multi task well, remain organised, and handle many projects at one time
  • Hardworking, assertive, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Have a good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organisation
  • Ability to react quickly and make continuous adjustments to provide top quality products
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when needed
  • Be physically fit, as some heavy lifting will be required
  • Have a full NZ driver's licence
  • Experience with large format printing and finishing will be seen as a plus
